2024 Academy Awards (Oskar) winning documentary
20 Days in Mariupol.
This is the first Oskar for Ukraine and an astonishing work of journalists who continued their work in a dangerous besieged city to bring the world truth about the war.
In addition to the film, we will show interviews with doctors, and residents that were in Mariupol during the siege.
This event was initiated by Medical Relief for Ukraine (MR4Ukraine.org) in Hudson, NY. Now it is organized by Ukrainian Solidarity of Captain District and featured by UACC. Proceeds are shared between UCCA (Ukrainian Congress Committee of America, a local chapter) and local charity for medical and humanitarian aid to Ukraine, MR4Ukraine.org

February 24, 2024, is a sad anniversary of the second year of horrific military aggression against Ukraine.
Local non-profit "Medical Relief for Ukraine” (www.MR4Ukraine.org) along with many supporters from the Hudson community have organized the second in a series of community discuses regarding the war against Ukraine. The community will see the presentation of "20 Days in Mariupol", an Academy Award nominated documentary, which is followed by ZOOM-taped live evidence from two doctors, a soldier, and a civilian who were in Mariupol at that time, and who still live in Ukraine now.
All funds collected from this event will go to vitally needed medical services to civilians and soldiers in our Lviv Rehabilitation center in Ukraine. Please, join our informative event and support our medical efforts:

28 y.o., born and raised in the town of Sartana near Mariupol City.
Doctor of Instance Care had been provided surgery under missiles and bombs in Mariupol City Hospital #4 with no water and electricity until March 21st, 2022. Dr. Bogdan now lives in Dnipro and works as the Head of the hospital at a pre-trial detention center.
Vladyslav Zhayvoronok
born and raised in Kherson, soldier of the Azov regiment, drone operator, paramedic. Vlad had been fighting at Azovstal till May 16th, 2022, and was liberated from military captivity in September 2022.

Leah Loftin Halpern' film: DICTIONARY OF EMOTIONS IN A TIME OF WAR will have its NYC Premiere as an official selection of the OSCAR-qualifying film festival DOC NYC this November! Adapted from Olena Astasieva's (Ukrainian writer) personal accounts during the initial weeks of the Russian war on Ukraine, the experimental nonfiction film will premiere at the festival with two in-person screenings (November 14 and 15) at Village East Angelika, and will be available for online streaming November 8-26 via DOC NYC.
